Choose A Different Path
Research repeatedly shows that how a teacher begins the school year in the first few days of school highly correlates with student behavior throughout the year and student achievement at the end of the year.
Yet new teachers – whether from traditional or alternative teacher preparation programs -- seldom have the opportunity to analyze and plan for this crucial time.
A GOTAGS workshop engages new teachers in examining the research, examining ideas from effective classroom teachers, and sharing their own ideas.
The workshop day culminates with each teacher designing a lesson plan for the first three days of schools, as well as making written commitments of ideas they want to try within the first few weeks. Please see the 5-minute overview for more information.
