GOTAGS - Whole-School Faculties
|
Choose A Different Path
Research repeatedly shows that how a teacher begins the school year in the first few days of school highly correlates with student behavior throughout the year and student achievement at the end of the year.
Veteran teachers seldom have the opportunity to review research on starting a school year and to compare it to their own experiences. Also, they seldom have opportunities to share ideas with more than a handful of fellow teachers.
A GOTAGS workshop engages faculty members in examining the research, examining ideas from successful classroom teachers, and sharing their own successful ideas and experiences.
The workshop day culminates with each teacher designing a lesson plan for the first three days of schools, as well as making written commitments of ideas they want to try within the first few weeks.
Administrators report positive school-wide effects for both teachers and students.
